QC ready for SONA, identifies alternate routes

QUEZON CITY, July 24 (PIA)–To ensure orderly vehicular traffic during the President Rodrigo Duterte’s First State-of-the-Nation-Address (SONA) on Monday (July 25), the QC Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) is advising motorists and commuters, especially those bound for Commonwealth Avenue, Montalban and San Mateo and vice versa, to take alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.

DPOS has already identified Mindanao Avenue via Quirino Highway or Sauyo Road as alternative routes for motorists going to Fairview and the Tumana – Balara Road for those bound for Marikina, Montalban and San Mateo.

The DPOS is closely coordinating with the QC Police District – Traffic Enforcement Unit (QCPD-DTEU) for the city’s traffic management plans during the President’s SONA.

Based on the traffic deployment report of the DPOS, the city will be deploying some 411   traffic personnel to extend traffic assistance starting at 4 a.m. and onwards.  The city’s contingent will complement the police and traffic management force that will be mobilized by the police and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for the SONA.

The DPOS will also be fielding paramedic teams for emergency and medical assistance.

For traffic along inner roads and streets, barangay public safety officers (BPSOs) will be assigned to provide traffic assistance. (QC PAISO/RJB/SDL/PIA-NCR)
