QC court temporarily halts implementation of Edsa provincial bus ban

(Eagle News)–A Quezon City court has temporarily stopped the implementation  of a ban on provincial buses on Edsa.

In issuing the writ of preliminary injunction, Branch 223 effectively stopped the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and  the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, among others, from implementing orders pertaining to the ban.

The court required the 18 bus transport groups that challenged the agencies’ orders to post a   a P1-million bond first.

The court also gave the MMDA and the LTFRB until August 14 to file their answer.

The ban was supposed to take effect on Aug. 7.

The MMDA and the LTFRB had argued the ban was necessary to decongest traffic on Edsa.
