TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE, January 24(PIA) – On his fifth visit to the region since his assumption of the highest post of the land, President Rodrigo Duterte is again set to visit here, this time to inspect the conditions of the “Yolanda” victims who are now settled in their permanent shelters.

To be ferried by seven buses to the President’s engaging site at New Hope Village, barangay Sta. Elena, about 15-kilometers away from the city proper, some 1,062 beneficiaries, who are representatives of seven different government-built relocation sites in the city, stand to meet PRRD. They are slated to receive their much-awaited certificates of ownership from the President.

PRRD is expected to get inside a single unit, of the row houses that is made of concrete materials. It looks like a one-room affair, with toilet, water and sink, good enough than their previous temporary shelters. The landscaping is impressive with the village streets wide and cemented with multicabs plying regularly to and from the city to provide the settlers a daily transport.

There is a total of 12,000 families that are needing relocations to permanent shelters and with this visit of the President, a total of 8,000 would have been transferred while the remaining ones will find their shares by the end of March 2017, as reported by the National Housing Authority (NHA).

To recall, in his November 8 visit last year, in time for the “Yolanda” 3rd year memorial, PRRD expressed disappointment over the conditions of the families he saw, still nestled in their temporary shelters. The site prompted the President to order Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, Michael Dino to fast track the construction and transfer of the victims.

He then, vowed to return to Tacloban in December of same year, to check on Dino’s accomplishment, which meant only about a month to perform an enormous task.

Somehow, the young PA did his assignment.

Among the housing beneficiaries who stand to meet the President in person are those coming from the following NHA projects: Villa Dolina, Greenville, New Hope, Villa Sophia, Rich View, and Northville. (PIA-08)
