(Eagle News) – President Rodrigo Duterte ihas prohibited members of his Cabinet from using special protocol license plates and sirens.
Duterte said the use of these cause an inconvenience to the public.
“Have you ever seen me use a siren in Davao? Only when there was an explosion at the airport, a fire. But have you ever seen me pass by using a siren?” the President said.
He added that everyone should follow traffic rules and regulations.
“If the traffic light is on stop, we stop. No sirens. Let’s just pass through and request people to go to the side to clear the path for a while. That’s it,” he said.
Explaining his prohibition on the use of special plate numbers in Cabinet secretary vehicles, Duterte said he does not want the public to think that government officials get special treatment.
“I have forbidden my cabinet members to use the number six plate number,” Duterte said. “The plate number 8 is for congressmen, 7 for senators. I don’t care about other departments, just mine. I told them not to use the 6. I do not like it,” the President said.
