President Duterte orders “thorough” probe into collapse of portion of budget hotel in Manila

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered a “thorough” probe into Monday’s collapse of a portion of a budget hotel in Manila that led to at least two killed.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo made the revelation on Tuesday, Sept. 24, a day after the incident at the Sogo Hotel in Malate around 9:30 a.m.

The Palace was “shocked” and “saddened” over the incident, which also left at least one person injured, Panelo said.

It, however, commended Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, who was “among the first to rush and inspect the crash site.”

Mabini Street was temporarily closed to pave the way for search and rescue operations later in the day.
