(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte met with members of the Bangsamoro Transition Committee and Moro Islamic Liberation Front leaders on Tuesday night.

The President’s Davao meeting which also saw members of the government negotiating panel present took place a day after he said he was “worried” about what would happen if the Bangsamoro Basic Law was passed.

“Would it do well to mix it all in one pot? Meaning to say, are you Joloanos ready to be led by a Maranao?” he had said in a speech in Patikul, Jolo.

The Palace has yet to release details about what was discussed in the Davao meeting, but reports have said it was generally about how to expedite the passage of a BBL.

A proposed BBL, a measure that, among others, seeks for the creation of a Bangsamoro in lieu of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, is pending before Congress.

The proposed BBL was crafted by the BTC.
