President Duterte lashes back at Trillanes; says it is the senator who has bank accounts outside the country

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has accused Senator Antonio Trillanes IV of owning bank accounts outside the country.

“I’m coming out with Trillanes’ bank accounts all over,” the President said in his speech during the closing ceremony of the 26th Mindanao Business Conference in Cagayan de Oro.

Duterte made the announcement after Trillanes accused his son, Paolo, and son-in-law Mans Carpio of owning more than P100 million each in each of their accounts, of being smugglers.

He also accused the younger Duterte of being a member of a Chinese triad based on a supposed “dragon-like tattoo” on his back.

It was also Trillanes who surfaced prior to the 2016 elections and accused the older Duterte, then the Davao mayor who was running for the presidency, of being corrupt.

He stepped aside when the older Duterte assumed the presidency, citing the need for reconciliation and peace after the elections.

He has yet to come out with concrete proof against either of the Dutertes and Carpio, who have dismissed all his allegations as black propaganda.

According to Duterte, he would be giving the public “in a few days” the number of deposits Trillanes supposedly has with a Chinese joint account.

“Ngayon nakuha ko na. Akala rin kasi niya hindi ko kaya,” Duterte said, noting that if Trillanes’ accusations against his family were “trash,” his weren’t.

He at one point even showed the public his “rose tattoo” in his arm, and asked Trillanes to “decode” it.

In a statement, Trillanes denied the allegations, calling them “fake news.”

“Hinahamon ko siya na ilabas niya ang detalye at agaran akong pipirma ng waiver para malaman ang katotohanan,” he said.
