President Duterte featured as “2016 Man of the Year” by Chinese magazine

MANILA, Philippine (Eagle News) — Chinese language magazine Yazhou Zhoukan named President Rodrigo Duterte as “Man of the Year” in its first edition for 2017.

According to Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella, the President was named as “man of the year” due to his “announcement of his independent foreign policy, his distancing away from the U.S., and forging closer ties with China.”

“The article also praises Duterte’s good governance and anti-corruption campaign as the reason for his popularity among Filipinos,” Abella added.
