President Duterte arrives at Batasan complex

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has arrived at the Batasang Pambansa, where he is expected to deliver his second State of the Nation Address.

The President arrived at the Batasan grounds on board a chopper a few minutes before 4 p.m.

Wearing a white barong Tagalog, he went through  the military honor guards before entering the building.

To his left was General Eduardo Año, military chief.

He was met by Senate President Koko Pimentel, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and the majority floor leaders of both Houses of Congress.

Earlier, authorities had said Duterte would be leaving Malacañang around 3:30 p.m.

The President’s speech is expected to be “frank,” with the theme “A comfortable life for all.”
