President Duterte approves law establishing Malasakit centers in PHL

(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has approved a measure institutionalizing Malasakit centers in the country.

The President signed Senator Bong Go’s measure, which aims for the establishment of  centers in 73 hospitals run by the Department of Health and in the Philippine General Hospital  in Malacañang on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

The Malasakit Center  is a one-stop shop where patients may apply for  financial assistance from four government agencies:the DOH, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

“With the Malasakit Center Act in place to complement the Universal Health Care Law, we are a step closer towards making quality health care more accessible and affordable for all Filipinos, especially the indigent and poor patients in need of medical assistance from the government,” Go said.
