(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday admitted he was having a difficult time addressing the problem of corruption, but vowed to fulfill his promise to do something about it.

“Even if I have to fire..It will go on and on until I get rid of the major players,” he said in a speech at the Kapampangan Food Festival held in the ASEAN Convention Center in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.

He said “there will be no more sacred cows,” and that the “exemptions” the “ruling elite” enjoyed before will no longer apply.

“I will haunt them until they pay to the last (what they owe the government),” he said, even as he emphasized that  he has nothing against “oligarchs.”

He reiterated the need to remove the lowest-bid policy, which he said was the primary source of corruption in government.
