QUEZON City, Philippines – Presumptive President Rodrigo Duterte believes that poverty should not be an excuse for committing a crime. Duterte was known for his campaign promise to eliminate criminality within 3-6 months of assuming the presidency. He is also in favor of reinstating the death penalty, which garnered opposition from the Commission on Human Rights and the Roman Catholic Church.
