Police nab ASG suspects in alleged Zamboanga blast plan

(Eagle News)– Police arrested on Friday (September 9) three suspected Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members who were allegedly involved in a plot to bomb Zamboanga City.

The arrested– Jamar Musa, 44;  Ahmad Tandih, 33; and Omar Kumbing, 36– are believed to be members of ASG-Ajang Ajang group.

Authorities recovered two fragmentation grenade, one fully-loaded Caliber 38 and two cellphones.

Chief Superintendent Billy Beltran, acting director of the Police Regional Office 9, said that the nabbed are among those who escaped from Sulu due to intensive military operations.
“The three ASG members were allegedly tasked to conduct bombing operation in Zamboanga City as monitored by the intelligence community since September 4, 2016,” Beltran said.
The suspects are now in custody of Zamboanga Police Station 7 for documentation and inquiry.
