PNP: Parojinog’s November 2018 medical furlough had QC court’s approval

(Eagle News)–The medical furlough of former Ozamiz City vice mayor Nova Princess Parojinog in November 2018 had a Quezon City court’s approval, the Philippine National Police said.

In a statement, Brigadier General Bernard Banac said Parojinog’s visit to the clinic of Dr. Louisse Orasa at Room 801 in Medical City Hospital in Pasig City on Nov. 12, 2018 had the “express permission” of Judge Edgardo Bellosillo, presiding judge of Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 95.

Banac said the same court granted Parojinog’s separate motion for furlough  to visit her brother Reynaldo Parojinog Jr. on December 23 last year.

Her brother is detained at the Metro Manila District Jail Annex 5 in Bicutan, Taguig.

The PNP said Parojinog, who was escorted from the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame at 8:50 a.m. on Nov. 12, 2018, underwent a  panoramic dental x-ray at her own expense.

“The convoy arrived at the medical facility at exactly 9:40 a.m. and the x-ray procedure was performed by Mr. Zyrel Pingel on detainee Parojinog after which she was immediately returned to the PNP Custodial Center at 10 a.m.,” Banac said.

Banac  said the chief of the custodial service unit also issued a written compliance report to the QC court on November 13, 2018.

Banac issued the statement after the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 228, where the former vice mayor is facing charges for possession of illegal drugs, ordered the  warden of the PNP Custodial Center to explain why she was allowed to leave.

The court noted she did not seek permission for the medical furlough.

The Parojinogs were arrested in a 2017 police raid.

During the raid, their father, Ozamiz City mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., whom President Rodrigo Duterte had accused of being involved in illegal drugs, was killed, along with several others.
