(Eagle News) — The police on Thursday, June 5, said it was possible the man who shot and killed Tanauan, Batangas Mayor Antonio Halili was with a companion when he committed the crime.

In a press conference after the reenactment of the killing, Chief Supt. Edward Carranza, director of the Philippine National Police Region 4-A, made the deduction after finding that there was a “distortion” in the “natural growth of the grass” where police believe the gunman was when he fired the shots.

“The distortion on the natural growth of the grass, medyo, in terms of width, malapad,”  he said.

Based on the reenactment, Halili was at a “lower” position when the gunman shot at him.

According to Carranza, it also appeared that the gunman was “not so confident” based on the fact that he shot Halili in the body, and not in the head.

The police are so far looking at three motives in the killing of Halili: politics, his shame campaign, and his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.

President Rodrigo Duterte included Halili in his narco-list, but his family denied the allegations. Ghadzs Rodelas
