(Eagle News)–Three men who allegedly attempted to extort money from several people in government, including Senator Bong Go, have been arrested by the police.

The Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group identified the suspects as Dennis Jose Borbon, an online blogger  and a former staff member of the 1-Edukasyon partylist; Edgar Paulo James Bularan.; and Menard Greg Bassa.

Only Borbon and Bularan, who were arrested in an entrapment operation in Malabon, were presented to the media in a news conference on Thursday, Aug. 1, as Bassa was arrested in a separate entrapment operation in Camarines Sur.

According to PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde, Borbon identified himself as Camarines Sur Rep. Arnie Fuentebella to ask lawmakers for money.

Apart from Go, the police said the men had tried to extort money from Rep. Mikee Romero, Cavite Vice Gov. Jolo Revilla, among others.

Based on information from Revilla, the PNP said the vice governor received a call from one of the suspects who introduced himself as Fuentebella and claimed he lost his wallet while on travel to Palawan.

The caller then asked for P25,000.

The PNP said the suspects, still misrepresenting themselves as Fuentebella, also got in touch with Go through Viber and asked for P20,000 reportedly for the youth in Bicol.

But Go called Fuentebella himself and confirmed the congressman had not asked for such an amount.

The suspects, who claimed to know Peter Joemel Advincula, the yellow-hooded character in the Ang Totoong Narcolist videos against President Rodrigo Duterte, did not deny the allegations.

“Lumapit si..staff ni Bam Aquino..pinapatira senatoriables ng administrasyon,” Borbon said.

Charges for identity theft and estafa will be filed against the suspects. Mar Gabriel, Eagle News
