PNP Chief says Kerwin’s request for protective custody up to DOJ to decide

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa said that the PNP will leave it up to the Department of Justice (DOJ) to decide whether or not to grant the request of Kerwin Espinosa to be placed under the witness protection program (WPP).

Dela Rosa said that it is the DOJ which would determine if Espinosa is qualified to be placed under the witness protection program. He said Espinosa will undergo normal booking procedures and will also be held at the PNP Detention Center.

The PNP team which was tasked to fetch Kerwin Espinosa is expected to return to the country with the suspect early dawn Friday, according to the PNP chief.
