Pimentel urges LTO to improve process of issuing drivers’ licenses following experience at LTO Marikina branch

(Eagle News)—Senator Koko Pimentel has called on the Land Transportation Office to improve its process of issuing drivers’ licenses.

Pimentel made the call after he said he had to have his picture taken twice when he applied for a renewal of his at the LTO branch in Marikina.

“Dalawang beses ako kinunan ng pictures and digital signatures at different locations,” he said.

The Department of Transportation said the first set of the picture and identification card was a requirement of the IT company Stradcom for its database.

The DOTr said the second set was for Dermalog, LTO’s ID license supplier.

“Hindi ba puedeng isang picture na lang para sa isang driver’s license,” Pimentel asked.

According to Pimentel, the practice of the LTO was one of the causes for the delay in the processing of driver’s license applications.

“We need to provide our people with fast, efficient and  reliable land transportation services and facilities,” he said.
