Pimentel urges gov’t to fund more medical scholarships

(Eagle News)–Senator Koko Pimentel called on the government to fund more medical school scholarships, saying the public will benefit from this starting five  years from now.

Pimentel made the call as he lauded the Marikina City government for its Ordinance No. 078 Series 2019 or “Libreng Pag-aaral sa Pagdodoktor para sa Marikenos” which offers full medical scholarship grants to qualified residents who aspire to become doctors.

According to Pimentel, this move by Marikina was “public service at its best.”

“The national government should follow suit and design programs that support the studies of many aspiring doctors in our country. More doctors mean more prevented and treated diseases,”  Pimentel said.

According to Pimentel, if the government offers free education to those studying to be a doctor, “maraming estudyante na kapos sa buhay ang mabibigyan ng pagkakataong maabot ang kanilang mga pangarap at makatulong din sa ating kababayan.”

“Sabi nga ng ating mga kabataan ngayon, SANA ALL,” Pimentel said.
