PHL reports 8,355 additional COVID-19 cases; total at 803,398

(Eagle News) — Philippine COVID-19 cases reached 803398 on Monday, April 5, after the Department of Health reported 8355 additional cases.

According to DOH data, of the total cases, 143726 were active.

Of these, 97.5 percent were mild, 1.1 percent asymptomatic, 0.5 percent were critical, 0.6 percent severe, and 0.34 percent were moderate.

Recoveries rose to 646237 including the 145 additional ones.

Ten additional deaths pushed the death toll to 13435.

The Philippines is dealing with a surge in COVID-19 cases, prompting the Palace to re-impose an enhanced community quarantine over the Greater Manila Area starting March 29.

The ECQ, where the movement of people is again limited, was supposed to end on April 4, but the Palace extended it to at least one more week in a bid to curb the surge.
