Philippines logs 3,858 new COVID-19 cases

Metro Manila with 13,135 new COVID-19 cases in last 14 days

(Eagle News) — The Philippines registered over 3,000 more COVID-19 cases on Thursday, July 28.

The 3,858 additional cases constitute the highest daily tally in the country since February.

According to Department of Health data, the new cases pushed the total number of new COVID-19 cases to 3764346.

Of these, 29897 were active.

Of the regions, Metro Manila logged the highest number of new COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days, with 13135.

It was followed by Calabarzon with 8504, Central Luzon with 3923, Western Visayas with 2465, and Central Visayas with 1526.

Of the provinces and cities, Cavite logged the highest number of new COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days, with 2965, followed by Quezon City with 2747, Laguna with 2173 and Rizal with 1686.

Makati followed suit with 1590.

Recoveries are 3673745.

The COVID-19 death toll rose to 60704.

Earlier, the DOH reported almost 900 additional Omicron BA.5 subvariant cases in the country.
