Philippines conducts nationwide earthquake drill

CLARK, Pampanga — The Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) led by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) was held Thursday (April 21) morning.

Government agencies and disaster authorities participated in the drill after a series of deadly earthquakes shook several countries, including Japan, Ecuador, Myanmar and Vanuatu.

The countries lie on the pacific ring of fire — an area where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions happen.

The simultaneous drills were held in Pampanga, Metro Manila at the Philippine National Police (PNP) grandstand in Camp Crame, and another drill was held in Zamboanga City.
