PET concludes recount of ballots in three provinces covered by Marcos electoral protest

(Eagle News)–The Presidential Electoral Tribunal has concluded its recount and revision of ballots in connection with former Senator Bongbong Marcos’ electoral protest against Vice President Leni Robredo.

The PET said case member-in-charge Justice Alfredo Caguioa submitted on Monday, Sept. 9, his report on the recount covering the three test provinces of Iloilo, Negros Oriental and Camarines Sur, or 5415 precincts.

The tribunal has, however, yet to act on the report.

“The tribunal would like to again remind the  parties that they are still subject to the subjudice rule pursuant to its resolution dated Feb. 13, 2018 and March 20, 2019,” the PET said.

“Hence they are strictly ordered to refrain from making statements to the media with regards to the case,” it added.

Robredo was declared the winner of the vice presidential race in 2016, after garnering more than 200,000 votes more than Marcos.
