(Eagle News)–The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office will appeal President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to stop all forms of gambling activities under its mandate.
This is according to PCSO general manager Royina M. Garma, who issued a statement a day after the President’s directive.
According to Garma, the appeal was “for the interest of the PCSO, its agents and its beneficiaries.”
In the meantime, Garma said all PCSO games are suspended in compliance with the President’s directive.
“Pursuant to the order of the President, suspending PCSOs gaming activities, the PCSO Board directs compliance to said instruction until further notice,” he said.
In a video posted on RTVM’s YouTube account, Duterte ordered the stoppage of all gambling activities citing “massive corruption” as a ground.
He said starting today, lotto, STL, peryahan ng bayan, and keno were illegal, and ordered the military and the police to ensure that his order is implemented.
