PBBM approves creation of new barangay in Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–President Bongbong Marcos has approved the creation of a new barangay in  Surigao del Sur.

In signing Republic Act No. 11986, the President effectively established Barangay Guinhalinan in the Municipality of Barobo.

The four-page law said the Commission on Elections (Comelec) shall conduct and supervise a plebiscite to be held in the barangay within three months from the Republic Act’s effectivity.

This, it said, shall be shouldered by the municipality.

The Barobo Municipal Mayor, meanwhile, shall appoint a Punong Barangay, seven Sangguniang Barangay members, a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chair and seven SK councilors until their successors shall have been duly elected and qualified, the law said.

A complete copy of the law has been published on the Official Gazette.
