Pasig RTC sentences Dennis Roldan to life imprisonment after guilty verdict on kidnapping case

The Pasig City Regional Trial Court declared actor Dennis Roldan and his co-accused guilty of kidnapping, in connection to the 2005 abduction of a three-year old child of a wealthy Filipino-Chinese businessman.

MANILA, Aug. 26 (PNA) — The Pasig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) on Tuesday found former character actor and erstwhile Quezon City Rep. Dennis Roldan, or Mitchell Gumabao in real life, guilty of kidnapping and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The case was in connection with the abduction of a three-year old Filipino-Chinese child in 2005.

In the decision of Presiding Judge Rolando Mislang, Roldan was found guilty of kidnapping, as well as his co-accused Rowena San Andres and Adrian Domingo.

However, another co-accused Octavio Garces was acquitted by the QC RTC.

Aside from Roldan, the court also sentenced his two co-accused of “reclusion perpetua” or life imprisonment.

The 53-year old Roldan, also a former basketball player, is the father of young actor Marco Gumabao and popular volleyball player Michelle Gumabao.

He is also a brother of veteran actress Isabel Rivas.

Before the actor was found guilty by the RTC, he was allowed to post a Php500,000 bail for his temporary liberty in 2006.
