PAO: 14-year-old Reynaldo de Guzman was dead for 12 hours before found

(Eagle News) — Fourteen-year-old Reynaldo de Guzman had been dead for 12 hours when he was found in Gapan, Nueva Ecija on Wednesday.

Public Attorneys Office Forensic Lab Director Erwin Erfe said it also appears De Guzman was already dead when he was stabbed over 20 times.

“Wala kaming nakitang tama ng baril kay Kulot,” he added, referring to the boy’s nickname.

As for De Guzman’s friend, Carl Angelo Arnaiz, Erfe said based on their investigation, it also appears he was killed somewhere else and not in the place where he was found on Aug. 18.

The police said Arnaiz was killed in a shootout that ensued after he fired at policemen who were out to arrest him for robbing a taxi driver on C3, Caloocan.

But his parents disputed the police account, noting that based on PAO autopsy results, it appeared he had been tortured before he was killed.

They said the boy bore handcuff marks and had a swollen eye.

“Unlikely yung narrative doon sa spot report,” Erfe said.
