Pantaleon Alvarez gets reelected as representative of 1st district of Davao del Norte

(Eagle News)–Pantaleon Alvarez was reelected as representative of the 1st district of Davao del Norte.

In a statement on Friday, May 17, Alvarez expressed gratitude to his constituents for giving him a second term in the House of Representatives.

“I am humbled with the trust they have reposed on me and I will continue the historic developments and progress we have achieved during the past three years,” Alvarez said.

He said their votes shall “definitely” bring forth “change to our beloved province” as their elected leaders “shall never cease working hard in providing the best and genuine service.”

Alvarez also thanked President Rodrigo Duterte and Sara Duterte “for their leadership, both at the national and local level, in making sure that the 2019 elections in Davao del Norte was peaceful, orderly, and fair.”

He also called on the public to “consolidate our efforts in making true change and uplift the lives of our countrymen.”

Alvarez was Speaker of the House when he was elected as representative of the first district of Davao del Norte in the previous elections.

He, however, lost the post after a verbal exchange with Sara, whom he accused of being a member of the opposition when she organized the Hugpong ng Pagbabago regional party.

Sara, however, denied the allegations, saying the creation of the party had her father’s blessing.

Alvarez had said he would vie for the House Speaker following his reelection.
