Panelo: Palace looking into conflict-of-interest allegations vs Duque

But the Health secretary still enjoys President Duterte’s trust, Panelo adds

(Eagle News)–The Palace is looking into the allegations of conflict of interest against Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

But Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo added Duque so far enjoys the trust of President Rodrigo Duterte, as he has so far responded to the issues hurled against him.

On Monday, July 29, Senator Panfilo Lacson said Duque’s family-owned Doctors Pharmaceuticals Inc. had cornered government contracts for medical supplies in the million of pesos.

Earlier, Lacson said  Educational and Medical Development Corporation  owned by Duque had a lease contract with PhilHealth for a building in Dagupan.

Duque is ex-officio chair of PhilHealth.

Duque has said he has divested himself from those family companies.

“If the investigation shows that there has been a violation, then the President will know what to do,” Panelo said.
