(Eagle News)–The Palace has declared a suspension of work in government offices effective noon today, April 17.

The Palace made the announcement in  memorandum number 60 signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.

According to the memo, the half-day work schedule was “to provide government employees full opportunity to properly observe 18-19 April 2019, regular holidays, and to allow them to travel to and from the different regions in the country.”

“However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services,” the memo said.

The Palace said the suspension of work in private companies and offices was “left to the discretion” of these firms. Vic Somintac
