Palace to SEA Games athletes, support staff: You are all winners

(Eagle News)–The Palace was all praises for the 30th South East Asian Games athletes and their support staff, calling  all of them winners.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo issued the statement as the biennial event officially drew to a close and officially handed the hosting chores for the next SEA Games to Vietnam on Wednesday, Dec. 11

“The Palace congratulates all the athletes and their support staff. All of you did a wonderful job giving pride and honor to your respective countries,” Panelo said.

Panelo said during the sports meet, everyone “witnessed harmony, camaraderie and sportsmanship prevailing among countries in Southeast Asia, not to mention the mesmerizing performances in the opening ceremonies and the jovial infectious mood that engulfed the thousands of attendees.”

He also congratulated the Philippines, which was named the overall champion of the event with 149 gold medals.

“We are happy in the Philippines not only because all participating countries secured medals but for the other reason that their athletes will be bringing wonderful and unforgettable memories with them to their homes,”  Panelo said.
