Palace: Those against law mandating bigger, color-coded license plates for motorcycles can go to courts

(Eagle News)—The Palace on Monday, March 25, said those who feel the law requiring motorcycles to have bigger and color-coded license plates was unconstitutional can raise the issue before the courts.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo made the comment as the government stood firm the law recently signed by President Rodrigo Duterte would be implemented without fear or favor.

“Everyone should comply. No exception,” Panelo said.

Panelo issued the statement days after around 50,000 motorcycle riders took to the streets to protest the new law signed by Duterte on March 8.

Under  Republic Act 11235, the Land Transportation Office is required to issue the new license plates.

The plate numbers should be big enough so they can be read from at least 15 meters.

The color of each plate will also depend on the region where the vehicle was registered.
