(Eagle News) — The results of a survey that showed that more Filipinos believe their lives have improved are yet another “repudiation” by the public of “the skeptics, left-leaning groups, militant (Catholic) church members and the political opposition,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said on Friday, Feb. 1.
According to Panelo, the results of the SWS survey were a validation of previous surveys that showed that there was a decline in hunger, that there was a decrease in the number of Filipino families who consider themselves poor, and that show many Filipinos were entering 2019 with hope.
Panelo said the administration is “not resting on its laurels and remains steadfast and committed to achieving its goal of inclusive growth to provide a comfortable life for the Filipino people,” even as President Rodrigo Duterte’s critics “ignore or refuse to heed the people’s voice and see nothing good in the President’s tireless efforts to improve and bring about genuine and positive change to the nation.”
“It is therefore not surprising that (the President) continues to win the hearts and minds of the Filipino people as he enters the midpoint of his six-year presidential term,” Panelo said.
The results of the Social Weather Stations poll conducted in December last year showed that 37 percent of Filipinos believe their lives improved over the past 12 months, up from the 28 percent in September 2018.
