(Eagle News)–The foreign tourist who was captured on video allowing a child to defecate in the waters of Boracay, and the other who tried to bury the diaper in the white sand will face charges.
This is according to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, who expressed dismay over the incident, which prompted authorities to close down a part of the island again for the cleanup.
The island had just reopened after being closed for rehabilitation for six months, following President Rodrigo Duterte’s dismay over Boracay being a “cesspool.”
“Of course we are not happy about that. That is not good because we are supposed to be cleaning it then some people are messing it up, right? That’s not good,” Panelo said.
According to Panelo, everyone, whether foreigner or Filipino, should follow the rules.
“..And that obviously is a violation so they would be subject to suits,” Panelo said.
