Palace questions NPA sincerity in holding peace talks

(Eagle News)–The Palace on Monday, Dec. 16, questioned the sincerity of the New People’s Army following the Eastern Samar attack that saw at least two people killed.

“When you do that, your sincerity is in question with respect to peace talks,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.

Panelo made the statement after President Rodrigo Duterte sent Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III to talk to Sison, who is in exile in The Netherlands.

The President earlier offered safe passage for Sison the Philippines while peace talks were ongoing, but Sison refused.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government said Sison, the NPA and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines were responsible for the attack that also left several hurt in Borongan last Friday.
