Palace on slower inflation: It is proof Duterte admin is delivering results despite criticisms

(Eagle News)–The Palace has welcomed the 0.9 percent inflation rate recorded in September, saying this was proof the government was “delivering results” despite criticisms.

In a statement, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said the National Economic and Development Authority in particular “attributes the slowdown in part to the success of the Rice Tariffication Law which has allowed consumers to enjoy lower prices of rice because of higher supply.”

He said NEDA has also “assured to fast-track programs that will enhance farmers’ skill and boost their productivity.”

“For our part, the PCOO [Presidential Communications Operations Office] will strengthen our information drive on the benefits of the law to consumers and farmers along with successfully communicating the President’s other landmark policies to the public,” he said.

The 0.9 percent inflation rate was the slowest recorded since June 2016.

This was also lower than the 6.7% inflation posted in September 2018.
