(Eagle News)–The Palace on Thursday, Oct. 17, gave the assurance President Rodrigo Duterte was “safe” and “in good health” even after figuring in a motorcycle accident.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo gave the statement after Senator Bong Go broke the news the President had sustained minor injuries in the incident in the Presidential Security Group compound on Wednesday night.

According to Panelo, after Duterte parked his motorcycle, “his shoes were naipit so he was trying to reach for it.”

“Natumba siya so  he had a slight bruise in the elbow and in the knee,” Panelo said.

Panelo said even then, there was no need for a checkup as the injuries were just “scratches.”

“Okay na siya, okay naman siya,” Panelo said.

Go had said he was hoping the President would be able to attend his 5 p.m. engagement.

The President is a known motorcycle aficionado; when he was Davao mayor, he would use a motorcycle to go around the city, Go had said.
