Palace: Duterte admitted to undergoing endoscopy, colonoscopy recently

(Eagle News)–The Palace on Saturday, Sept. 22, said President Rodrigo Duterte admitted to undergoing a colonoscopy and endoscopy.

In a statement, the Palace said the President made the admission before doctors at the  Asia Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (APAGE) 3rd Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinical Forum in Lapu-Lapu, Cebu on Friday.

He said the colonoscopy, which allows a medical specialist to look inside a person’s colon and rectum, and the endoscopy, which allows the specialist to look inside a person’s digestive tract, were performed by Dr. Jose Sollano, APAGE chairperson, the Palace said.

The Palace said according to the President, “abdominal disorder” was common among soldiers and policemen, possibly because of the food and the water they drink “without purifiers” in the mountains.

He said his son Sebastian “was also a patient of  (Dr. Sollano).”

“And that was also genetically..maybe,” Duterte was quoted as saying in Malacañang.
