Palace denies hand in sedition raps vs Robredo, others

(Eagle News)–The Palace on Friday, July 19, denied any hand in the sedition charges filed against Vice President Leni Robredo and several others over the “Ang Totoong Narco-list” videos.

In an interview over ANC, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Larry Gadon, lawyer of Peter Joemel Advincula who served as the police witness in filing the charges, “has nothing to do with us.”

Advincula claims to be the yellow-hooded character in the videos that accuse President Rodrigo Duterte and his family of being engaged in the illegal drug trade.

“Gadon is a lawyer who takes clients,” Panelo said.

According to Panelo, if Gadon supported Duterte when the former Davao mayor ran for the presidency, “you cannot take that away from him.”

“Pero ‘yung iko-connect mo ‘yung lawyering niya sa administrasyon definitely it’s fallacious,” he said.

Apart from Robredo, facing the charges for sedition, libel, cyber libel, harboring a criminal, estafa and obstruction of justice were Antonio Trillanes IV, Chel Diokno, Leila de Lima, Romulo Macalintal and Gary Alejano.

Charged were also priests such as Socrates Villegas, Robert Reyes, Albert Alejo and Teodoro Bacani, and others such as former Supreme Court Spokesperson Theodore Te, Jonnel Sanggalang, Yolanda Villanueva Ong, Danilo Songco.

Advincula  is also a respondent in the case.
