Palace: Canada has tapped shipment company for retrieval of garbage “sooner than later”

(Eagle News)–Canada has tapped a shipping company to recover the garbage that was shipped to the Philippines six years ago.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said according to Canada, the return of the trash, which languishes in a Tarlac landfill, will be “sooner than later.”

No date was, however, specified.

Earlier, the Philippines recalled its diplomatic envoys in Canada, after the North American country missed the May 15 deadline to have the trash shipped back.

President Rodrigo Duterte had threatened to declare war against Canada, which responded by saying it was open to thresh out the issues involved in the recall of the garbage.

The Palace, however, slammed the statement as “vague.”
