Palace: Arnell Ignacio resigned from OWWA post due to “personal reasons”

(Eagle News) — Arnell Ignacio resigned from his post as deputy administrator of the Overseas Workers and Welfare Administration for “personal reasons,” the Palace said on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Ignacio “has intimated his desire to pursue other endeavours.”

“While the President has yet to formally accept Mr. Ignacio’s resignation, we recognize as well as thank him for his contributions to the Filipino people,” he said, noting that Ignacio has “proven his competence in public service” not only as OWWA deputy administrator, but also as the assistant vice president for community relations of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.

Ignacio, a staunch supporter of Duterte, was appointed to the OWWA post on Jan. 23, 2018.
