(Eagle News)– The Palace on Tuesday (September 6) proclaimed September 12 as a regular non-working holiday to commemorate Eid’l Adha (Festival of Sacrifice).

President Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation No. 56 before leaving for Laos.

Republic Act 9849 explains Eid’l Adha as “tenth day in the month of Hajj or Islamic Pilgrimage to Mecca wherein Muslims pay homage to Abraham’s supreme act of sacrifice and signifies mankind’s obedience to God.”

Eid’l Adha is one of the two greatest Muslim celebrations, the other is Eid’l Fitr, or the end of Ramadan.
