US Embassy, affiliated offices closed on Monday, Oct. 14

(Eagle News)–The United States Embassy will be closed on Monday, Oct. 14. In an advisory, the US embassy also closed were its affiliated offices. The advisory said this was in celebration of Columbus Day, an American holiday which commemorates the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the Americas. The US embassy said regular operations will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

3.4-magnitude quake strikes off Davao Occidental

(Eagle News)–A 3.4-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Thursday, Oct. 10. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 73 kilometers southeast of Jose  Abad Santos at 6:06 a.m. Depth of focus was 18  kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
