(Eagle News)–Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde recommended for promotion 13 of his men for the 2013 Pampanga raid, Senator Richard Gordon said.

Gordon, citing a document he said was signed by Albayalde, said the now-PNP chief also recommended  a distinguished conduct award for himself over the raid, which the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group found to be irregular.

Albayalde, who was provincial director of Pampanga at that time, admitted making the recommendation but added it was up to the regional police director to decide.

Gordon, however, questioned the frequent giving of awards and commendations in the police force, noting that only those deserving should be awarded.

“Pag accomplishment, kasama. Pag nagkasabitan, kanya-kanyang alisan,”  Senator Panfilo Lacson, former PNP chief, said.
