Former SolCom chief named new PHL Army commanding general

(Eagle News) — The Philippine Army has a new commanding general. This was after President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay to the post vacated by Lt. General Macairog Alberto, who is set to retire on December 6. Gapay headed the Southern Luzon command prior to his appointment. His designation is approved effective December 6.

Lorenzana recommends no martial law extension in Mindanao

Updated SEA Games 2019 medal tally as of Dec. 4, 2 p.m.

(Eagle News)–This table provided by South East Asian Games 2019 organizers shows the updated medal tally of participating countries in the biennial event. As of 2 p.m. of December 4, the Philippines continues to lead the pack, with a haul of 52 golds, 33 silvers and 19 bronzes, for a total of 104 medals. Vietnam is in second place, with 23 golds, 27 silvers and 19 bronzes, for a total of 75 medals.

Gov’t extends PNR line from Tutuban, Manila to Los Baños, Laguna

(Eagle News) — The Philippine National Railways has formally extended its rail services to Los Banos, Laguna. In a statement, the Department of Transportation said this was made possible by the addition of new stations and a new train set from Japan. From Tutuban, Manila, the PNR line now extends to  Pansol, Masili, Los Baños, College, and the International Rice Research Institute, after the Calamba station. Sorsogon placed under state of calamity

Sorsogon governor Chiz Escudero, however, noted that there were no casualties reported in the province after the typhoon’s onslaught. But the initial damage reported already reached P667,331,900 due to agriculture and fisheries losses. The cost of damage to infrastructure is still being completed.
