General Macairog Alberto, who is set to retire on December 6. Gapay headed the Southern Luzon command prior to his appointment. His designation is approved effective December 6.

In a statement, the Department of Transportation said this was made possible by the addition of new stations and a new train set from Japan. Sorsogon governor Chiz Escudero, however, noted that there were no casualties reported in the province after the typhoon’s onslaught. But the initial damage reported already reached P667,331,900 due to agriculture and fisheries losses. The cost of damage to infrastructure is still being completed.
