4.2-magnitude earthquake strikes off Surigao del Sur

(Eagle News)–A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao del Sur on Saturday, Dec. 23. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake that hit at 8:49 a.m. was an aftershock of the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that hit the province on December 2. The epicenter of Saturday’s earthquake was 38 kilometers northeast of Hinatuan. The depth of focus was 30 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.
