(Eagle News) — Tropical Depression “Usman” is expected to intensify into a tropical storm before it makes landfall over Eastern Samar on Friday, Dec. 28.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said as of 4 p.m., the eye of “Usman” is located 690 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, and gustiness of up to 65 kilometers per hour.
“Usman” is moving northwest at 15 kilometers per hour, and is expected to cross northern parts of Leyte, northern Cebu, Panay island, Sulu Sea, northern Palawan and the West Philippine Sea.
On Friday, rains are expected in the Visayas and Bicol region, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Quezon.
Light to moderate rains are expected over Metro Manila on Friday night, PAGASA said.
PAGASA said “Usman” is expected to exit PAR on Monday, Dec. 31, in the afternoon.
