PAGASA: “Ompong” to bring moderate to heavy rains over parts of northern Luzon

(Eagle News)–The Phiippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration urged the public to prepare as Typhoon “Mangkhut” further intensifies as it continues to move westward.

PAGASA said the typhoon, which is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday evening, will be named “Ompong” locally.

Upon entering PAR, “Ompong” is expected to pack maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometers per hour, and gustiness of 255 kilometers per hour.

The typhoon may traverse the Cagayan-Batanes area on Saturday.

Widespread moderate to heavy rains are expected over Northern Luzon, especially over Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Ilocos Norte and Batanes, PAGASA said.
