PAGASA monitors tropical storm “Bualoi” outside PAR; “Perla” intensifies into typhoon

(Eagle News)–The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is monitoring a tropical storm outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, although it is less likely to enter PAR.

PAGASA said “Bualoi” was estimated  3,045 kilometers east of Visayas, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

It is moving west at 20 kph.

Meanwhile, “Perla” has intensified into a typhoon as it moved in a northern direction.

The eye of Typhoon “Perla” was located 580 km east northeast of Basco, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.

It is moving slowly, and is expected to exit PAR between this evening and Monday morning.

No tropical cyclone wind signal is in effect over any part of the country but occasional gusts may occur over Extreme Northern Luzon until early next week due to the prevailing northeasterly surface wind flow.

Sea travel, PAGASA said, is risky, especially for small sea vessels, over the seaboards of Northern Luzon due to potentially rough sea conditions associated with the northeasterly surface wind flow.
