PAGASA monitoring tropical depression off Palawan, LPA off Surigao del Sur

Southwest monsoon affecting western section of Luzon

(Eagle News) — The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is monitoring a tropical depression off Kalayaan Island in Palawan, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

PAGASA said it was also monitoring a low pressure area off Surigao del Sur, 255 kilometers southeast of Hinatuan.

The southwest monsoon, meanwhile, is affecting the western section of Luzon.

PAGASA said Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan, as a result, will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

Flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains are possible.

Caraga and Davao Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA said the western section of Luzon will have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
